About Us

Education
Bishop Miles Classical Academy takes a classical approach to a hybrid environment, partnering with parents in their children’s education journey. Utilizing selected Kolbe Academy course plans, students spend two days at the academy learning and working with teachers. The baton is then passed to parents for the remaining three academic days of the week. This provides families with both the flexibility of homeschooling and the benefits of sharing academic expertise with other families. Detailed course plans can be found here
Formation
Raising saints is not an easy endeavor. Formation begins from the child’s earliest moments, and is a continuing, lifelong process. At Bishop Miles we work with families to form children in the faith, pointing everything we do to the good, the true, and the beautiful. By infusing our academic days with Mass and prayer, and by grounding our studies in truth and goodness, we elevate the educational experience and put faith formation at the very center of everything we do.

Community
The hybrid model of education relies heavily on a strong community. Teachers, parents, and students lean on each other to achieve our highest academic and spiritual potentials. Whether by curating a shared library, sponsoring skill-building sessions, or supporting each other through life changes, every person involved with Bishop Miles contributes to our ever- growing environment full of like-minded people on a journey to grow in faith, intellect, and love.
Bishop Pius Miles
Richard Pius Miles was the first bishop of Nashville, serving from 1838 until his death in 1860. He was a Dominican priest, and throughout the course of his life he founded a community of Dominican nuns, a school, a seminary, a hospital, and an orphanage. After his death his body was interred beneath the altar of Saint Mary of the Seven Sorrows. During renovations to the church in 1792, over 100 years after his death, his body was found to be incorrupt. Details about the cause for his canonization can be found here.
